Announcing Peekalink 2.0 Beta: A New Era in Link Previews

After more than a year of development, we’re thrilled to announce the beta launch of Peekalink 2.0—a major leap forward in how link previews are fetched, analyzed, and delivered. Powered by our own robust, self-hosted infrastructure, the new version offers:

This release addresses the challenges we faced with our previous cloud provider and paves the way for fast, flexible, and resilient link previews.

In case you missed our earlier update, Peekalink 1.0 moved into maintenance mode last year due to an unexpected incident with our former cloud provider—they deleted some of our resources, claiming we had exceeded their bandwidth limits. While we fought to restore the service, we ultimately decided to rebuild from the ground up for full control and greater reliability.

Peekalink 1.0 still works for existing users, but now only receives essential security and stability updates. Our main focus is delivering Peekalink 2.0 Beta, which we believe is a significant step forward in link preview technology.

  1. Real-Browser Rendering
Our headless browsers handle modern, JavaScript-heavy sites. If a page requires dynamic loading or client-side rendering, our new engine captures every detail—no more incomplete or missing metadata.
  2. Expanded Multi-File Support
Beyond standard HTML pages, Peekalink 2.0 Beta previews a range of formats:Whether it’s a single document or a complex media file, our engine extracts rich metadata at scale.
    • PDFs
    • Excel Sheets
    • PowerPoint Decks
    • Audio & Video
    • … and more!
  3. AI-Driven Fallbacks
Even if a website lacks proper meta tags, our improved AI routines parse textual and visual elements to create meaningful previews. This significantly reduces empty or incomplete outputs, even for unoptimized URLs.
  4. Scalable & Self-Hosted Infrastructure
We’ve taken the reins by running our own servers and scaling globally—no more dependence on one cloud provider. Expect consistent performance no matter how large your request volume.
  5. 24/7 Monitoring for 100+ Link Types
From standard webpages to social posts and e-commerce products, we continuously monitor more than 100 link types. Metadata automatically refreshes to keep your previews accurate and up to date.
  6. Proxying for Accuracy
Peekalink 2.0 Beta incorporates geolocated proxies to bypass regional blocks or content restrictions. Whether your users are in Europe, Asia, or the Americas, Peekalink fetches the true version of a page for reliable previews.
